Engineering precision meets creative problem-solving.
About
My journey into design started with a challenge, not a classroom. While studying aerospace engineering, I often found myself fascinated less by the equations and more by how complex systems could be made simpler for people to understand and use. That curiosity grew into a passion for creating solutions that merge technical precision with human-centered thinking.
After moving from South Korea to Canada, I embraced design as my new career path. Today in Calgary, I draw from my engineering background, cross-cultural experiences, and research-driven approach to craft interfaces that are clear, intuitive, and purposeful. My process combines user research, surveys, and data analysis to uncover insights—and transform them into designs that feel effortless to navigate.
I believe that great design shouldn’t require a manual. Every interaction should communicate its purpose at a glance, and every detail should serve the user. That’s the standard I aim for in every project I take on.
Experience
Tools & Skills: Figma · Adobe Photoshop · Adobe Illustrator · Visual Studio Code · Canva · MS PowerPoint · MS Excel · MS Word
All projects below were conducted as part of the SAIT Interaction Design program.
Design Projects
- Domo Mobile App – Conducted competitor research and designed a seamless landing page that naturally guides users into key sections like the dashboard and activity tracking. Focused on intuitive user flow and clarity in navigation.
- Terra Belle – Brand Identity & Visual Strategy – Served as the project manager, overseeing timelines, delegating tasks, and ensuring all members delivered on time. Also contributed to developing a clear and compelling marketing strategy aligned with the brand's sustainability-focused vision.
- Uniflow – Branding, Website & Mobile App – Designed a user-friendly and intuitive mobile dashboard interface for a modern productivity platform. Ensured visual consistency and smooth user flow across the mobile experience.
- Hiker’s Companion Mobile App – Led the full design process, from brand identity creation to final app interface development. Designed with a strong focus on safety, usability, and outdoor functionality for various levels of hikers.
- Hiker’s Companion Webpage – Created the brand identity and fully developed the responsive webpage to support the mobile app. The site allows users to explore trails, plan routes, and access safety tips with an accessible and user-focused layout.
Ongoing Projects
- SAIT IDD Ignite Awards Event – Currently working on UX research and webpage design for the Ignite Awards, an internal SAIT event recognizing outstanding student work across the IDD program.
- Give A Mile Collaboration Conducting research and working on UX problem-solving strategies with Give A Mile, a nonprofit organization that supports individuals in need of air travel to visit terminally ill loved ones.
- Oscar Bin – UI/UX Redesign for Smart Waste Sorting – Collaborating on a project with BGIS to improve the effectiveness of the Oscar Bin, an AI-powered waste sorting system used on the SAIT campus. Despite the technology, the current correct sorting rate is only around 45%. We're exploring UI/UX solutions to increase user understanding and improve sorting accuracy.
Education
I have a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Ulsan. There, I gained strong analytical and systems-thinking skills. This background supports my logical approach to design problem-solving. I am currently completing the UI/UX Design program at SAIT in Calgary, Alberta. This program has helped me build skills in user research, wireframing, usability testing, and prototyping with tools like Figma and FigJam. I keep exploring how design can solve real problems through empathy, iteration, and simplicity.

Recommendation
“Woo is a highly organized and detail-oriented project manager. I’ve worked with him on several design projects, and his ability to structure tasks, guide the team, and deliver results on time was outstanding. I would gladly recommend him for any UX/UI design collaboration.”
